“Decora Doors are very cool, but where would I put one?”
The answer is anywhere you currently have a door. We have even installed doors in areas that did not have a door previously such as in a cased opening. If you have unused space behind a wall, simply have the wall modified and framed for the door, and we’ll build your Decora Door to fit. Consult us prior to cutting the opening. Decora doors are great for closets in bedrooms, home offices, entryway hall closets, or even doors going to master closets, bathroom closets, storage rooms, wetbars, pantries, game rooms, and media rooms. Applications are limited only by your imagination. Call us to schedule a consultation.
“Are Decora Doors stable? Will stuff fall off when I open it?”
Decora Doors are very stable and are designed to used on a regular basis, so go ahead and install one where ever you currently have an interior door. Keep in mind, they do move, so use some common sense in deciding what you store on your door (refrain from anything top heavy). Take care not to slam your Decora Door as you would with any other door. We have found it isn’t necessary to glue or tape items to the shelves. Items like the vase in the photo below work very well in our Art Niche Door.

“Can I put the hinge on either side?”
Yes, all of our doors are custom built to your specifications.
“Can the doors swing in?”
Decora Doors’ patented design requires the doors to swing outward. We have replaced many doors that used to swing in. Since our doors are pre-hung and we change the frame as well, this is not a problem.
“Can I order double doors?”
Yes, because our doors are custom built to order, we can build the door to fit any interior door opening.
“How much space does a Decora Door take up in the room or closet behind it?”
The doors only encroach about 3 1/2”, but the depth of the doors is 9”. The doors are surface mounted, so we utilize the thickness of the wall for most the depth.
“Do you ship doors?”
Yes, within the continental United States, please call for a quote. We include the crate in our quoted price and our shipping is charged to you at our cost with no markup.
“Can I hang the door myself?”
Yes, if you have experience installing pre-hung doors, otherwise we recommend you hire a professional to install it for you. There is no extra charge for local installation which includes removing the existing door & casing and hauling it away if requested.

“How do I order my Decora Door?”

“Can you match my existing woodwork or trim?”
Yes, if you know the wood species. We can deliver the door unfinished and you can have it finished to match, or finished if you know your stain or paint color. We’ll also make every effort to match interior décor in respect to design, casing, and details.
“I am building a new home. Can I put your doors in during the construction phase?”
Yes, we are happy to work with you or directly with you builder. We can deliver the doors unfinished in the same species of wood used in you home and you can have your builder finish them on-site to match.
“How long does it take from order date till installation?”
We typically quote 3-5 weeks for standard models. Additional time may be required for custom designs or other wood species.
“What wood are Decora Doors constructed from?”
Decora Doors can be ordered in Oak, Maple, Cherry or MDF. Other woods and veneers are available. Please call us for a quote.
“What does the back look like?”
The entire back is finished with a solid veneer then painted or stained to match the door.

“Can I lock Decora Doors?”
Yes, we have various ways to lock the doors depending on your requirements.
“Are Decora Doors security doors?”
Yes and No! Decora Doors are hidden doors, and indeed they are cleverly disguised, but we do not claim to provide actual security as in a “panic room”. They do, however, serve as a passive security device since they do not look like doors. They provide a great way to conceal a gun safe or a safe for your valuables. I do know where I’d hide if an intruder came into my home!
“Can’t I just build one myself?”
Decora Doors utilize a patented design (Niche Doors Concepts, Inc. patent #6,652,049), detailed blueprints and they are actually highly engineered. It’s not as simple as putting a hinge on a book case.
